Creature information
Scientific name : Dromaeosaurus albertensis
Time period : Middle-Late Cretaceous
Primary diet : Carnivore
In the documentary
Fatalities caused : Two Zuniceratops
Dromaeosaurus was a medium-sized theropod dinosaur, about 2m (6ft) long and 15kg (33lb) in weight, from the Middle-Late Cretaceous 92,000,000-72,000,000 BCE. It had a short, massive skull, deep mandible, and robust teeth, which seem to be made for crushing and tearing meat due to the heavy wear marks on them. It had a very stiff tail, like all dromaeosaurs, and it had a huge, sickle-like claw on its second toe, most likely used to stab the throat of its prey.

In When Dinosaurs Roamed AmericaEdit

It is the main dinosaur in the Middle Cretaceous segment. They're commomly called "raptors" in the segment as they are part of the raptor family. A pack of 3 Dromaeosaurus is seen eating a dead Zuniceratops. Then a lone raptor comes to eat, and the pack scare him off. He runs into a Nothronychus  and is wary, as he had never seen one before. The raptor sees it is possbly prey so he attacks, but he gets hit by the Nothronychus's claws. Raptors rarely make mistakes, but Nothronychus is rare in America. The raptor runs away to let the odd dinosaur feed on the trees. Later, when the Zuniceratops are fighting, the raptor pack hears the fight and head that way. When they get there, they wait for a mistake, and one happens: the old Zuniceratops gets gored in the frill. A raptor then attacks and use its toe claws to slash its flesh as well as their hand claws. But another Zuniceratops head-butts it. The whole pack run away. Later, just before the fire, they finish off the old male. But the fire cuts off their escape path and they get burned alive. But some raptors do flee and make it to safety along with some of the other creatures.

Trivia Edit

  • These are the first feathered raptors, as well as 1 of the 3 first feathered dinosaurs, including Coelurosaur and Nothronychus, in a documentary.

Errors Edit

  • A raptor's hands couldn't pivot without breaking them.
  • Dromaeosaurus did not live in this place or time. (The closest thing to it might have been Saurornitholestes, which inhabited New Mexico 72,000,000, which is still later than this. The "Dromaeosaurus" could also represent a species of coelurosaur found in the area.)
